What brought you two together?

What brought us together was our first volunteer trip. We were both excited about working with kids. After seeing Oscar lead the trip successfully, Julie decided to co-lead the trip with him the following spring. Through the planning sessions and trip experiences, we started to grow closer.
Julie’s good friend Cordie nudged Oscar to ask Julie out. At a campus event, he was supposed to ask her out, but got too scared. The next evening, Cordie texted Oscar that Julie was disappointed and then Oscar called Julie to meet up at midnight to officially ask her out. It was an awkward start to our relationship, but over time we grew our love for each other.

Why did you decide to get married?

Our commitment to each other began well before our engagement. We’ve been together for 8 years and home has been wherever the other person is. We decided to get married because we were ready for the next stage of our lives and to celebrate our commitment alongside our family and friends. We’re excited to continue to embark on this journey together.
