When we asked Laura and Matt what had first brought them together their answer was simple and full of gratitude – “Holy Spirit brought us together.” This couple would come to remember that they had previously crossed paths many times through mutual friends and connections, yet they had never had a moment to connect. That was until the moment God’s plans revealed itself and her sister invited Matt to an event Laura herself was hosting. Their relationship started as a beautiful friendship, but they soon discovered they had quite a bit in common and were both extremely interested in getting to know each other more. Although there were a few factors that made for an interesting start to their love story, (as Laura had recently walked through a divorce and was also bringing the blessing of four children to their relationship), there was never a doubt in their decision to pursue the beauty and adventure this relationship would hold. Built on a strong foundation of Jesus, deep friendship, laughter, and community, this couple’s unbreakable love will last a lifetime.

Both Laura and Matt had a strong feeling in just the first few weeks of knowing each other that marriage would be their ultimate destination. They had often heard friends speak of the feeling of just “knowing” you had found your person, yet the moment they felt this feeling firsthand was a breathtaking experience. After overcoming a challenging time in her life, Laura was amazed at the peace she had found in knowing that Matt was her forever. As Laura shared, “there are two important elements in saying yes to marriage: a “knowing” and a “choosing”. There is the component of attraction that plays a part, sometimes things just simply fit and leave you with that feeling of “knowing” you want to spend the rest of your life with a person. With that you also have the component of “choosing”, and that is equally as important. As with any relationship, if you are completely reliant on feelings the relationship is sure to be fragile, that is where we are invited to choose that person again and again and again. I believe both elements are important in saying “yes” to marriage, and we were both enthusiastically ready to say Yes!”

This couple likes to stay active whether its outdoorsy activities (such as hiking, walking, basketball, etc.) or seeking new adventures involving road tripping or camping. They also enjoy reading, singing and worshipping, and hosting get togethers with their friends and family.

Together Laura and Matt both share a love for Jesus, their family, and their wonderful community.
