Our Favorite Rustic Wedding Photos of the Year

As rustic weddings gain more and more traction in 2022, couples are smitten with the concept. This theme’s charm, tranquility, and classic appeal make it wildly popular. While we’ve seen hundreds of rustic weddings in 2022, we expect to see a lot more in 2023.

This blog will walk you through three of our favorite rustic wedding photos of the year! What makes them so special? And should you consider recreating these shots? Keep reading; our wedding photographers and videographers are breaking it all down!

1. Getting Ready to Say “I Do”

This warm, summery photo has stolen our entire team’s hearts. Rustic wedding photos are serene, tranquil, and sun-kissed. They transport people to the late 70s and 80s when weddings were much simpler and classic.

There’s nothing wrong with a modern, extravagant, and sumptuous wedding! However, that style is not everyone’s cup of tea. If you veer towards more subdued and nature-themed weddings, the rustic wedding trend is right up your alley.

Recreate this shot by choosing an outdoor venue that receives ample sunlight. There should be lots of refreshing green and brown shades in the background. Check these boxes off the list and leave the rest to your photographer!

2. The Barnyard Wedding

This has to be one of our favorite shots! Not only is this wedding as rustic as it gets, but the couple also looks like they’re madly in love. The deep brown hay in the background adds a touch of country charm to this photo. It’s an A+ in our books!

If you want to recreate this, get ready to try exciting new wedding poses with your partner. The more romantic the shot, the better. Since this is a portrait, it captures the couple’s body language very well. Landscape shots work well too, but a well-executed portrait will seal the deal.

3. The Autumnal Romance

If you’re getting married in the fall, you’re in luck. Fall weddings are known for their rustic charm, elegance, and tranquility.

If you live in Maryland, head to the Savage River State Forest, Salem State Forest, or Green Ridge State Forest.

For DC couples, Langdon Park Forest Patch and Francis G. Newlands Park are great options.

And if you’re tying the knot in Virginia, head to Appomattox-Buckingham State Forest, Cumberland State Forest, Browne State Forest, Prince Edward-Gallion State Forest, Lesesne State Forest, or Conway Robinson State Forest.

You’re in for a set of beautiful, autumnal photos!
