Springfield Manor

Springfield Manor is an unforgettably prominent historic estate. Built in 1774, the Manor hosts large formal functions as well as small intimate gatherings, and offers 8 sumptuous suites for overnighting guests.

Springfield Manor

Up on a hill in Thurmont is located a beautiful and historic property with lovely grounds and stunning house manor. This is Springfield Manor Winery, Distillery, and Brewery, one of Frederick County’s newest wedding venue.

The Layout

Springfield Manor is a delightful, charming, and historic winery wedding venue surrounded by nature’s bounty. It is a beautifully renovated manor with all the charm of a Southern mansion and the sophistication and amenities of a modern venue. It was so much fun shooting at this venue. It included mountain views, rolling hills, a gorgeous statement fountain, lavender fields, and the background of the historic mansion.

This wedding venue is a historic charm built in 1774 and continues to impress everyone even today. The property has overnight accommodations, event spaces, scenic farmland, and a garden. There is wine, beer, spirits available in the tasting room. The stately building is situated within 130 acres of gorgeous farmland and is a terrific place to host engagement parties, bridal showers, ceremonies, and reception.
The manor is elegant and romantic with regal exteriors and allows for two different reception areas. The sophisticated ballroom is elegantly constructed and is perfect for events of up to 300 guests. It has a serpentine sun porch and terrace allowing for a unique cocktail hour setting. Mountain View
You can say your vows in the open-air at the permanent pergola with stunning mountain views as the backdrop with the wedding party recording the magnificent moments on the camera. The picturesque grounds also happen to be a haven for wildlife, making for a magical atmosphere. The manor also has a winery, distillery, and brewery offering an additional unique event area. Whether outdoors or indoors, Springfield Manor is an ideal venue for any wedding event.

The Positives

Planning and executing weddings are time-consuming and hectic, which is why Springfield Manor provides the help of a wedding planner to assist couples. The staff works diligently to make your day stress and hassle-free as possible, tending to your requests. Even though there is an option of Winery, Distillery, and Brewery, couples can bring the beverages they love best. This wedding venue offers catering exclusively provided by Carriage House Caterers. Their full service includes everything that the couples might need. This includes barware, flatware, glassware, and table linens. Additionally, the bridal lounge and groom’s cigar lounge are ideal for getting ready and enjoying some pre-ceremony beverages.

The most beautiful venue ever!!!

Springfield Manor took my breath away!!! The location is so incredibly beautiful and the mountains added the perfect backdrop a girl could ask for, not to mention the walk down the aisle is on cement so you never have to worry about your heels sinking into the ground. 🙂

I chose this location because it is a one-stop-shop. There is an in-house caterer and they take are of linens, flatware, cups and of course the food. The location also uses gold Chiavari chairs and when looking at other locations they charged extra for those chairs. It also helped that the location doubled as a B&B which allowed me to stay on-site the night before and the night of the wedding. It was a huge help having my things there instead of lugging it from a different location.

Finally, Brian and Loree was the most awesome person to work with. He’s very straightforward about everything and I never had to worry about a thing, and it was also very reasonably priced. The entire staff at Springfield Manor helped our day go smoothly and were very attentive. We will be sure to return to stay at the B&B again.

We had a beautiful October, Covid-Free wedding at Springfield Manor. We cannot thank Brian and Loree enough for all the attention they paid to helping us with the wedding during this time. Brian and Loree explained everything their venue offered in detail, and returned all follow-up calls and/or emails within 24 hours whenever we had a question. They were flexible and easy to work with, so much so, even our vendors stated they were one of the best venues they have worked with. We had ushers onsite who took our guests and vendors temperatures, while we provided everyone with hand sanitizers and masks which we required the 50 person guests to wear for the outside ceremony and inside reception. All tables at the inside reception were socially distanced, and everyone had a great time! Everything came together for our very special day. We thank God, Springfield Manor and its staff, our vendors and especially Brian and Loree.

The Negatives

The venue manager, Brian Childs is pretty direct in his speaking and does not like to compromise on the guidelines. For the couples looking to wed in Springfield Manor, they will find him rude, and nor someone who is going to be pleasant to work with. However, I know him well and he goes the extra mile for every couple and looking after all the arrangements himself so that the couples have the best wedding, and all the guests enjoy to the maximum and have a great experience.

Due to the pandemic, Springfield Manor is unable to offer tastings of their spirits, but you are allowed to bring your own alcohol. So, this shouldn’t be a problem for anyone.

Overall, there are no negative reviews of Springfield Manor.

My family and I have been coming to Springfield since I moved to northern Virginia from central PA 6 years ago. It has been our special, half-way meeting spot when we wanted to see each other. I recently got engaged and took a tour of the venue. For years I have thought this would be such a wonderful place to get married. I have never been more disappointed. My mom and sister went with me and Brian never asked their names and never took a second to get to know us. I am not sure if he even knew I was the bride. He talked at us, not to us. He walked, what seemed like miles ahead of us, without speaking. The tour was only 13 minutes long. We were not allowed to ask questions or see the rooms in the house. When my Mom did ask a question, he cut her off and told us we would discuss that later. He could care less about getting my business. Looking for a wedding venue isn't easy and to be treated this way was so disappointing. I went home feeling defeated and so upset that not only did the venue not work out, but now our special, half-way meeting spot was ruined. I will never come back to this winery ever again.

Do We Recommend It?

Life’s most treasured moments deserve an unforgettable location and Springfield Manor offers exactly that. Here at TLIC, yes, we recommend Springfield Manor. It is voted as the Frederick’s best event venue and has ample spots for perfect wedding pictures.
